fancy a minuet?

I recently discovered this old family photo. No, it's not that old. It's a picture of my grandmother Mariette, when she was attending Parsons in Paris in the 1920s. She went to the Black and White Ball as Marie Antoinette. Here she is practicing her dance moves for that modern contraption the camera.

european vacation

I just came across this photo of grandmother and her uncle, snapped while the family was vacationing on Italy, c. 1925. There is something so film still-like about it. I love it. A moment captured in time, but a moving, living moment. They look like they were enjoying themselves. And my grandmother, as always is très, très, chic.
