favorite movie #70 - halloween edition: invasion of the body snatchers

Favorite movies that have had an impact on me - #70 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - The 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a classic, but I have a special fondness for its remake. Or maybe it's not exactly a remake, but a sequel, as the film features Kent McCord, from the original film, in a cameo appearance, trying to warn onlookers of what's coming. It's got a great creepy score too, and sound effects which were innovative for the time. And the cast is excellent: Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Leonard Nimoy, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright as residents of San Francisco, who are the only ones who notice that a new pink flower and its pods may not be as innocent as they seem. And may have come from a galaxy far, far away. The film ratchets up the thrills and paranoia as everywhere one looks more and more folks seem to become pod people. Our heroes can remain safe — as long as they never fall asleep ...
