Oooohhhh ... Glen Echo! My mother and I went there once on a Smithsonian Resident Associate tour. The guide brought us to that carousel (I should here add that I was probably the youngest of the group, and I was well into my thirties), then turned to face us for his lecture -- only to discover he had lost his audience. The entire group was sprinting towards the wooden critters with all the glee and anticipation of a bunch of little kids! Ride first, lecture after!

It's walk back into time, and the carousel is amazing, especially the organ/player piano thing, too. But it goes really fast - I was a bit dizzy!
Yeah, old age will do that to ya ... dizziness riding on the carousel ... :P
