While we were on a visit to a local museum the other day my daughter grabbed my arm and said, "look, Mom — Pom Poko!" I love my little pop culture progeny. These tanuki sculptures are wonderful. Now I want to watch Pom Poko again.
Some day, when I have a digital camera again, I should round up all my Tanuki stuff against a suitable background ... A few figurines, a bell, two sake sets, a metal kettle-with-Tanuki-head-spout shaped ashtray / cigarette lighter holder ... (Full kettle, with cigarette rests so you can flick the ashes inside, the lighter goes under the lid.) I used to collect these things, fought off I don't know *how* many counter-bids on eBay! I'm glad you and The Kid share my joy in this. --Mario
