The ocean has been roiling since last night, with high tides covering most of the beach and creating new dunes. I was able to take my morning constitutional—this morning it was just me, the guy with his metal detector and the town clean-up guy with his beach bulldozer/raker. What is it about beaches that attract men with metal detectors? They must find things. I remember always seeing a lone prospector on the beach when I was a kid at the Jersey Shore, too.

I was surprised to find the beach just as active and wild at the end of the day. Of course that didn't stop the parasailers ...
